Terminum
WATER BASED BARRIER FOR THE PREVENTION OF ANTS IN TREES
Terminum is a water based product for the prevention of ants, mealy bugs and other insects from climbing trees.
Terminum Keeps its adhesiveness for up to 6 months from application.
Terminum is applied to the trunk of the tree/vine in a 10cm strip, using a spatula or paintbrush. Terminum should be applied to the trunks only if the outer bark is corkish rather than green, this usually happens from 4 years after planting. If it is still young and green, phytotoxicity may occur.
Safety Precautions: Terminum does not contain synthetic pesticides, but it has some quite distinct safety precautions, please read the label carefully prior to application.
Preventing ants from getting into trees:
Ants are often associated with mealy bugs, aphids scale and psyllids in a two-way relationship. The ants benefit by feeding on the honeydew produced and in return they protect the insect pests from predators and parasites. Controlling or restricting access to ants can do a lot to reduce the abundance of these difficult pests.
Citrus greening due to bacteria from citrus psyllids and resulting greening in fruit giving a bitter taste
Terminum is confirmed for use in organic farming by IBOAA (The Israel Bio-Organic Agriculture Association but has not yet been through the process to be registered by BioGrow in NZ
